Mark has given us additional one on one time with our two headstrong dachshund puppies to demonstrate to us the strategies on having them comfortably walking on a lead. We now have a better idea on the importance of space around the dogs, how to cope with distractions, and the competitive nature of two brothers of the same litter. Mark’s insight into dog behaviour is impressive and we are looking to provide him with feedback on how well we are progressing with our training. Thanks Mark.

We engaged Mark and Linda from Sydney Dog Trainer to help our newly adopted Havanese adjust to her new life. She was very stressed on a leash, wouldn’t leave the house and was very scared of strangers.

After one session, our Havanese was able to leave the house and started going on walks. Thereafter, we’ve been seeing her go from strength to strength. She now loves going on walks and gets so excited when we bring out the leash.

Thanks to Mark and Linda for helping us (and Zoe our new family member!)

Mark is exceptional. We sought help with our 1 year old Jack Russel for numerous behavioural issues and within 2 hours of being guided how to train her we could see a big improvement. Mark has the skills to train you as a pet owner in order to train your dog. He has given us the skills to support our dog and the results are incredible. Mark has also provided ongoing support, he was happy to answer any follow up questions. All of our issues have resolved and we couldn’t be happier. We would highly recommend Mark.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Huge thanks to Mark from The Sydney Dog Trainer for spending two hours with us and Sirus.

Within about three minutes, Mark had our 22kg, 9-month-old Staffy wrecking ball actually listening to commands, something we were starting to think might require an exorcism!

The difference a few simple techniques made was incredible. The slightly painful discovery was that Sirus wasn’t the only one being trained.

Apparently, the humans needed work too.

Mark explained everything clearly and showed us how much consistency, timing and communication matter. Now it’s up to us to keep it going and stop Sirus reclaiming his role as Managing Director of Chaos.

Thanks again Mark. We all learned a huge amount and could see the improvement almost immediately.

One question remains:

Has Sirus been capable of listening all along and simply chosen not to? 😂🐕

We are giving Mark a Five Star review, it would be more if we could.
Having had 3 previous dog trainers that we never got the right advice from, we were struggling with a reactive over excited, uncontrollable large dog.
After our visit from Mark and following his advice we have our sweet, gentle, happy girl walking on a loose leash and listening to us. No more lunging at people or dogs. It’s such a huge relief.
She is much calmer and a pleasure to be with and all in just over a week.
Mark even came for a second visit as we couldn’t do the walking due to bad weather on his first visit. Can’t thank you enough Mark.
We will continue to follow your good advice. Our dog thought you were her new best friend.
Only wish we had found you earlier, it would have saved us thousands of dollars.

Mark was amazing with our dog Billy. He explained very clearly the theory and practices to be implemented. He managed expectations. Billy was badly attacked by a larger dog and had become almost impossible to walk. After the session we had a clear pathway to a happier dog and had seen instantly how the training techniques worked. What can I say but thank you Mark. We had tried other trainers and behaviorist but all that came out of it was a sad, restricted dog. Mark gave us honest information and didn't promise anything that he couldn't deliver. Could not recommend him enough.

an unregulated industry

You wouldn't go to an unqualified doctor to get medical help. Yet hundreds, if not thousands of Australians every year unknowingly hire unqualified or inexperienced dog trainers and dog behaviourists to help them with their dogs. To be fair most dog trainers and dog behaviourists in days gone by started out with no formal training but those days are or should be long gone. In what is now a multi million dollar industry and a good choice of recognised dog trainer certification courses available there is simply no excuse for a dog trainer/behaviourist not to get his/her certification. It is highly advisable to hire an accredited trainer or dog behaviourist for better results.

understanding dog training guarantees....
what you need to know!

If your new to the dog training industry you will invariably come across some services advertising guarantees that may seem appealing at first glance but often come with significant limitations. It's essential to understand the implications of these promises to make an informed decision. Remember you will be paying a premium for a "guarantee" you may not use.

SATISFACTION GUARANTEES
This type of guarantee often states that if you’re not satisfied by the end of the session, you don’t have to pay. While this might sound reassuring, owners may find that the immediate results achieved during the session didn't translate into long-term improvements. When issues resurface the next day, attempting to claim a refund will be problematic, as the decision to pay is typically required at the session’s conclusion. Furthermore, the nature of in-person interactions can make it challenging to express dissatisfaction, even if results don’t meet expectations.

LIFETIME GUARANTEE
Another common promise is a “lifetime guarantee,” where trainers offer unlimited revisits for a high upfront fee, often exceeding $1,500. While this may seem like a safety net, the need for multiple follow-up visits can indicate that the initial training wasn’t effective. Many owners have sought our services despite having access to these guarantees, often because the methods employed remain unchanged and ineffective. Investing in such a guarantee may not offer real value if the core issues aren’t resolved during the first visit and if they are then you have paid for something that you are never going to use! Ultimately, effective training should prioritise sustainable solutions tailored to your dog’s specific needs. Rather than relying on guarantees, focus on finding an accredited trainer with a proven track record, transparent communication, and a commitment to empowering you with the skills needed to reinforce positive behaviour over time.

“The insights above are drawn from real experiences shared with us over the years by individuals who have used such guaranteed services.”

RECALL DEMONSTRATION

" Your dog's safety is of utmost importance. As a professional, I understand the significance of training your dog with a strong recall. with effective tips and techniques that I've personally utilised with great success.....With training, your dog will have a well-established recall, potentially saving their life in critical situations"

After 2 hours with Mark, our little guy is so much more calm and a huge reduction in reactive barking. We have to tools and information to continue training. Highly recommend.

Helped me from session one and continued to check in and even came back if anything was an issue. 100% recommend to others taught my dog basic commands, where to go to the toilet and how to stop play biting. Check out the team 100% recommend.

Mark has been amazing with our 9-month-old, very playful and active Dooby. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and attentive, gave us clear advice and multiple strategies to address Dooby’s behaviors, explained not only what we had been doing wrong, but also how dogs think and why certain behaviors happen.

What impressed us the most was how practical his tips were— within a 2 hour session with Mark, we’ve already noticed a huge difference in Dooby’s behavior, he is calmer and more responsive. We highly recommend Mark to anyone looking for a dog trainer who is professional, insightful and genuinely cares about your pet’s well-being. Thanks Mark!

I contacted Mark because my 18 month old kelpie was basically unwalkable. He was so hyper reactive to other dogs and cars that taking him out anywhere was a battle. It took all my strength to hold him back from lunging and I was so embarrassed. By the end of the two hour sessions we were stood in the middle of St Ives Green surrounded by people and dogs and Felix was completely calm. He is like an entirely different dog. I can’t recommend Mark enough, and I’m so excited about all the places I can take my dog now that his reactivity is under control.

We had such a great experience with The Sydney Dog Trainer. From the very beginning, Linda made the process really easy—she gave us all the information we needed about what to expect, along with their values and approach.

Our trainer, Mark, worked with our 2-year-old rescue Pomeranian who had a few behavioural issues. Mark was firm but kind, and our dog took to him straight away. His methods were clear, effective, and easy to implement, and we’ve already seen great results at home. If one approach didn’t work, Mark was ready with another option, which really showed his experience and adaptability.

We loved that he was matter-of-fact but also flexible, tailoring the training to our family’s needs and the specific issues we wanted to address. It was totally worth the investment—we’re so glad we chose Mark and The Sydney Dog Trainer. And it’s also really reassuring knowing I can call or message Mark in the future if we need help tweaking things.

Highly recommend!

Mark is extremely gifted with animal behavioural science. He knew when to exert strong boundaries with my Bernadoodle and at the same time show love and affection. He has the perfect balance. My puppy Bernadoodle changed after one session. If you follow through on his advice you will end up with a happy, calm, secure dog and family ☺️

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If I could give 10 stars I would. Mark has transformed my dog in one session. My dog was constantly barking at other dogs and so unsettled in my salon. The past three days following his instructions has changed my dog. His calm no barking not anxious and makes me feel so happy seeing him so settled. Having a 5 year old dog and trying so many other ppl to fix these issues left me feeling helpless. I recommend this company and wish I found them sooner

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark is truly gifted dog whisperer. Within half an hour of my interaction with him, he was able to tailor advice that was not only effective and strategic to target behaviors of my dog but also suitable and appropriate with implementation given the environment, my dog’s temperament and personality of both my dog and I. His strategies does not involve punitive methods and is inexpensive - focused more on the long term. We are very blessed to have him support us! Highly recommend his business!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Linda has been a wonderful lady to work with when helping me train my pup! She gave such great advice when doing the in-home 2hr puppy training which already has made a difference in my puppy’s potty training and settling into the new home. Even after the in-home training she has been very responsive to my text messages and given me a lot of guidance whenever I have issues or concerns about my puppy. Being able to contact Linda has allowed me to feel a lot more reassured when raising my pup and has shown a lot of improvements in my dogs behaviour

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Trustindex. Before working with Mark, my dog was quite reactive to bigger dogs and any dog that wasn’t small and fluffy. I felt like I had tried everything but within the first 10 minutes of our walk with Mark, my dog was calmly ignoring dogs he’d usually react to.

We also struggled with barking at outside noises and chasing our neighbour’s cat out of the house, but Mark provided solutions that we saw worked instantly.

With consistent use of his methods, I truly believe my dog will unlearn these bad habits. Thank you so much Mark and thank you Linda for being very responsive and kind when I had to move my booking the day before. I highly recommend if you’re on the fence!!

I have been trying to train him for what feels like forever but with Mark’s help I have realised it just takes patience. The difference between my dog from the start and end of the two hours with Mark was incredible! I highly recommend Mark’s services, and can confirm his methods really work, so I am very grateful. Will be recommending this team!

Marks knowledge and expertise was hands down amazing as he helped us understand the dog world a whole lot better and showed us invaluable insights by implementing workable strategies to train our vivacious Mini Toy Groodle. We started seeing results within days and we now have a less reactive well behaved dog. Thanks Linda and Mark!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark was fantastic and has a great understanding of how a dog mind works! The simplest of changes he recommended made a world of difference and I can now walk our puppy (a very big puppy) without having my arm ripped off. We really appreciated the time he took to explain things and the logic behind it and it made complete sense.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark was amazing!! My dog Kobe had issues with barking at the door and reactive to other dogs barking. Within minutes of training Kobe wasn't barking and was listening. Other problems were identified and worked on also. Highly recommend Mark for any form of dog training.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Within 2 hours we had learnt the basis of what our pup was thinking and the theory around why we had to be strict on discipline with her. Given we have 2 young kids I was all for abit of discipline and it also helped me appreciate being tough on the kids! I never knew I could be tough with boundaries but still have her sleeping on the couch with me and cuddled and loved! Once Mark had left instantly we got to put in practice the new techniques and within seconds she was relaxed on the floor near us on the couch! Unbelievable !!! So stoked and super keen to keep it up for this week to break her habit!

Thanks Mark!!

We have seen a marked improvement in Otto's behaviour and the training has absolutely worked. We could not recommend Mark more.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mark came today and within the first 10 minutes of seeing our setup and explaining everything we are doing wrong and why we’d be setting up our pup for future bad habits and failure, i thought “g’eez! Just this 10 minutes has paid itself off”…. But then he took his time to explain even more stuff and showed us some presentations and by the end of the session we felt so happy and confident with what to do, we went out today and bought what we needed and made all the changes he suggested and it’s been a TOTAL game changer. Especially for potty training, which was a NIGHTMARE cleaning all the pups pee and poo, that’s all been corrected the SAME DAY as Marks visit. What a champion, thank u legend. RECOMMEND. 5/5

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot recommend a session with Mark highly enough for anyone needing help in recorrecting behaviour with their dog.
Mark shared really valuable insights and helped me with actionable behaviour correction techniques and I made more progress with my dog in one session with Mark than in a year of trying to correct the behaviour on my own.
A super successful session, thank you Mark !
