We are so happy to have found Mark. He sorted out years of problems efficiently and clearly. We have now been practicing his plan for 5 days and it’s definitely working (underneath all his psycho barking we knew we had the best dog)!

Carlo Ferraro28 days agoWe were impressed with the level of service we received from Mark. Our puppy was very timid at the start, however with Mark's approach she became very comfortable and confident within a matter of minutes. We are now into day 1 after the initial training session and we have already noticed a difference in her behaviour. We would highly recommend Mark.

I was shocked to see such positive results with my 2 very reactive Chihuahuas almost immediately! Super simple, efficient and clear techniques that work. So grateful and can't wait to keep implementing what I've learnt! Here's to calm happy dogs (and dog parents!)

Nicole Fong32 days agoWe had such a great experience with Mark. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and gave us practical advice that we could immediately put into practice. Our pup is super excited, affectionate and full of energy, so we wanted help with things like jumping, pulling on the lead and improving her recall. Mark was fantastic at understanding her personality and showing us how to work with her rather than against her. We’ve come away feeling much more confident and equipped to continue her training. Michael Gikler38 days agoI cannot recommend The Sydney Dog Trainer highly enough. I contacted them because my 16-month-old German Shepherd, Rufus, had developed some challenging behaviours around strangers, visitors to the house and barking when left alone. After trying different approaches without the progress I was hoping for, I booked an in-home session. Within just two hours, I genuinely felt like I had a completely different dog. More importantly, I realised that the biggest change needed to come from me. The trainer didn’t just train Rufus—they taught me how to communicate with him properly, understand why he behaves the way he does, and how to confidently handle different situations. The amount of knowledge I gained in those two hours was incredible. Everything was explained in a way that was easy to understand and immediately put into practice. By the end of the session, Rufus was calmer, more focused and responding in ways I honestly didn’t think were possible so quickly. If you’re struggling with your dog or simply want to become a better owner, do yourself a favour and book a session. It has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made, and I now feel confident that Rufus and I have the tools for a happy, well-balanced future together. We used a citronella collar, took him to the vet, rearranged our work schedules so one of us could stay home, and nothing was working. Everything changed when we contacted The Sydney Dog Trainers. Hazal A93 days agoReached out to Linda to help with our new puppy and she explained everything perfectly and sent notes to help us set up for success. Her notes and training has helped us immensely and we’re so grateful. Already our puppy is able to sit, responds to her name, stays and responds to recalls. Sarah Hawke118 days agoMark was awesome in helping us improve our puppies behaviour. We were struggling to stop our 13 week old golden retriever from nipping and jumping when she got over excited. She has worked with my puppy Étienne across sessions in both February and April, and the difference in his behaviour and confidence has been incredible! Linda is not only knowledgeable but also very practical, considerate and structured in her approach. She breaks things down in a way that’s easy to follow, even for first-time puppy owners. From toilet training and recall to building independence and managing nipping, every piece of advice she gave was actionable and tailored to my pup, Étienne. What really stood out to me was how much she focuses on setting the foundations early and setting the new puppy owners for success, especially around independence and preventing separation anxiety, which is something I hadn’t fully appreciated before. But now as I see my pup grow from 9 weeks and into his 18 weeks stance, the training and guidance provided has been super rewarding! Her guidance has genuinely helped me feel more confident as a dog parent too. She also provides detailed follow-up notes and is always open to questions and queries, which makes the whole experience feel very supportive rather than transactional. In just 1 session, my dog had shown dramatic change and since then it has been so much easier to manage. I love that Mark was honest and giving it to me straight, all while being friendly and fun to hang out with. I’ve had previous trainers for my dog before and this has been the best experience by far!

Gemma Lumley223 days agoHighly recommend Mark! We have two mini dachshunds who needed some training (barking when delivery drivers came to the door). So glad we got him in as I was confused by conflicting advice on online forums. Could already see the changes in the dogs in the short time Mark was there, looking forward to implementing the training over the coming weeks and months.

Dominic Lau229 days agoWe could not thank Linda enough, within minutes she arrived our home, our 3 months fluffy finally knows her name and responded (shame on us for having her a month already!!) Linda has been amazing by first understanding the current status, then our concerns before she jumped right to the training. Training started small but well organised, from indoor to outdoor, do's and don'ts. Less potty accidents ever since he started sleeping in the crate. My first call to Linda, training and follow up from Mark, the entire process was stress free. Mark & Linda are the best!

Chloe Fitch288 days agoI can’t recommend Mark enough! I brought him my two dog-reactive dachshunds, and within the first five minutes he managed to correct their behavior in a way I didn’t think was possible. He had the dogs walking calmly with zero reactions in no time— and the leash pulling that used to drive me crazy was gone. The real test was a busy cafe filled with dogs, and unbelievably, not a single bark. I was blown away by how confidently and calmly Mark handled everything, and how quickly the dogs responded to him. His approach is clear, patient, and incredibly effective. If you’re struggling with reactivity, leash pulling, or just want a trainer who truly knows what they’re doing, Mark is the person to call. Absolutely 5 stars! 🌟🐾

Ariana Galanos295 days agoMark is a wealth of knowledge and has all different techniques to offer to help dogs behaviours and reactions. I noticed a huge difference with my dachshund who is very reactive to people coming into our house and has bad separation anxiety. Mark quickly assessed what works for her and after a 2h session she responded very well to her triggers and did not react to him coming in the door. I’m keen to continue this training and see where she goes! I highly recommend Mark.

Todd Graham305 days agoMark was amazing with our rescue boy Norman who was dog reactive with a new rescue we adopted. We were at a loss of what to do with the two dogs as they had to be separated at all times around the house as they would attack each other every time they saw one another. Mark was able to help us integrate our new dog Tank within about a week with some careful crate exposure and walking etc- we never thought it would be possible! Lindy Ben-Galim309 days agoVery knowledgeable and skilled trainer We had Mark come round to help us with our bolting; tugging and reactive Staffy Stella. Mark was very honest, practical and reassuring! Within minutes of walking Stella around.. he worked her out and was able to put a training plan in place for us. We had one grumpy older dog (you can definitely teach an old dog new tricks) and a hyperactive 4 year old dog, so each end of the spectrum. Mark’s common sense advice and clear sighted intelligence has helped us settle their anxiety, stop excessive barking, and pulling on their lead. We can finally walk the dogs with the knowledge to manage reactive behaviour. We can’t believe we waited so long!! On the first meeting, Mark already made changes. AJ Crawf321 days agoWhen Mark arrived I thought how is he going to change Harloe’s behaviour in 1 x 2 hour session. The results he was able to achieve with a combination of authority & love was truly amazing. When I turned up at the beach with Harloe the next day & was able to leave her to go for a swim without hearing the separation/ anxiety barking was a fantastic feeling. Kim Brill365 days agoMark was recommended to us for our little Chihuhuas reactive barking. After 2 hours with Mark, our little guy is so much more calm and a huge reduction in reactive barking. We have to tools and information to continue training. Highly recommend.

Helped me from session one and continued to check in and even came back if anything was an issue. 100% recommend to others taught my dog basic commands, where to go to the toilet and how to stop play biting. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient and attentive, gave us clear advice and multiple strategies to address Dooby’s behaviors, explained not only what we had been doing wrong, but also how dogs think and why certain behaviors happen. K B379 days agoI contacted Mark because my 18 month old kelpie was basically unwalkable. He was so hyper reactive to other dogs and cars that taking him out anywhere was a battle. It took all my strength to hold him back from lunging and I was so embarrassed. By the end of the two hour sessions we were stood in the middle of St Ives Green surrounded by people and dogs and Felix was completely calm. He is like an entirely different dog. I can’t recommend Mark enough, and I’m so excited about all the places I can take my dog now that his reactivity is under control.

From the very beginning, Linda made the process really easy—she gave us all the information we needed about what to expect, along with their values and approach. Our trainer, Mark, worked with our 2-year-old rescue Pomeranian who had a few behavioural issues. Mark was firm but kind, and our dog took to him straight away. His methods were clear, effective, and easy to implement, and we’ve already seen great results at home. If one approach didn’t work, Mark was ready with another option, which really showed his experience and adaptability. We loved that he was matter-of-fact but also flexible, tailoring the training to our family’s needs and the specific issues we wanted to address. He has the perfect balance. My puppy Bernadoodle changed after one session. If you follow through on his advice you will end up with a happy, calm, secure dog and family ☺️

Ash Croker394 days agoIf I could give 10 stars I would. Mark has transformed my dog in one session. My dog was constantly barking at other dogs and so unsettled in my salon. The past three days following his instructions has changed my dog. His calm no barking not anxious and makes me feel so happy seeing him so settled. Having a 5 year old dog and trying so many other ppl to fix these issues left me feeling helpless. I recommend this company and wish I found them sooner

Within half an hour of my interaction with him, he was able to tailor advice that was not only effective and strategic to target behaviors of my dog but also suitable and appropriate with implementation given the environment, my dog’s temperament and personality of both my dog and I. His strategies does not involve punitive methods and is inexpensive - focused more on the long term. We are very blessed to have him support us! Highly recommend his business!

Emily Vu422 days agoLinda has been a wonderful lady to work with when helping me train my pup! She gave such great advice when doing the in-home 2hr puppy training which already has made a difference in my puppy’s potty training and settling into the new home. Even after the in-home training she has been very responsive to my text messages and given me a lot of guidance whenever I have issues or concerns about my puppy. Being able to contact Linda has allowed me to feel a lot more reassured when raising my pup and has shown a lot of improvements in my dogs behaviour

Arabella Nesbitt426 days agoBefore working with Mark, my dog was quite reactive to bigger dogs and any dog that wasn’t small and fluffy. I felt like I had tried everything but within the first 10 minutes of our walk with Mark, my dog was calmly ignoring dogs he’d usually react to. We also struggled with barking at outside noises and chasing our neighbour’s cat out of the house, but Mark provided solutions that we saw worked instantly. With consistent use of his methods, I truly believe my dog will unlearn these bad habits. Elle Eastwood532 days agoWithin 2 hours we had learnt the basis of what our pup was thinking and the theory around why we had to be strict on discipline with her. Given we have 2 young kids I was all for abit of discipline and it also helped me appreciate being tough on the kids! I never knew I could be tough with boundaries but still have her sleeping on the couch with me and cuddled and loved! Once Mark had left instantly we got to put in practice the new techniques and within seconds she was relaxed on the floor near us on the couch! Unbelievable !!! So stoked and super keen to keep it up for this week to break her habit! Thanks Mark!!

Mr D Oz543 days agoMark came today and within the first 10 minutes of seeing our setup and explaining everything we are doing wrong and why we’d be setting up our pup for future bad habits and failure, i thought “g’eez! Just this 10 minutes has paid itself off”…. But then he took his time to explain even more stuff and showed us some presentations and by the end of the session we felt so happy and confident with what to do, we went out today and bought what we needed and made all the changes he suggested and it’s been a TOTAL game changer. Especially for potty training, which was a NIGHTMARE cleaning all the pups pee and poo, that’s all been corrected the SAME DAY as Marks visit. What a champion, thank u legend. He corrected many of our 7 month old Staffy’s problematic behaviours like nipping, pulling on the lead and attention seeking behaviour. He gave us the tools to control our dog and has resulted in a more calm home for all of us. Especially with a baby in the way! We highly recommend to all.

We saw immediate improvements in problematic behaviours that we had been experiencing. Mark has been a godsend and well worth the money. Mark is so engaging, and very friendly. Then we found Mark and my girl not only is happy and enjoying her home but also listens and understands the boundaries set out. To say that she's happy is an understatement. Karina….what can I say, when I walked into your place I saw a depressed doggo 😔. Mat training which is what you were guided to do by a previous behaviourist can do wonders for some dogs but for others it can be too restrictive and can create learned helplessness. It’s good that you saw that this method was not working for your dog and gave your dog another chance by trying something different! Lou Lou673 days agoMark is a legend I wish I found & engaged much sooner for my mischievous (but very cute) Bull Terrier. Mark has a patient, calm, kind, supportive & generous presence that helped me help my dog & cut to the chase of what was really needed. Id spent sooo much $$ on previous non effective kennel clubs & the like that just failed to provide me with the tools I needed to train my dog. My dogs behaviour changed in one session, sure some things require ongoing discipline from me but now I have the expertise to lead my dog forward well. Corina Vidgen685 days agoExceptional Mark was exceptional at helping with a few issues with our two dogs; a groodle and a cavoodle. Doorbell reactivity was essentially corrected in one session, and now we have the skills to work with reactivity to people walking past our house (especially those people walking their own dogs). We also had some challenges with intermittent aggression from our groodle toward the cavoodle and Mark helped us to understand what was happening behaviourally, what to do to prevent the behaviour and to nip it in the bud at the earliest sign. The methods are sensible and based on behavioural conditioning. He clearly loves dogs and showed so much warmth toward ours. He was punctual, professional and communicated clearly. Billy was badly attacked by a larger dog and had become almost impossible to walk. After the session we had a clear pathway to a happier dog and had seen instantly how the training techniques worked. rachael kershler730 days agoI reached out to Mark looking for help for our pups separation anxiety, was able to secure an appointment super quick. Mark arrived and from the moment he entered our home started his training. He was super thorough with info and recommendations, tips & tricks. I instantly saw a change with my dogs behaviour and with continual encouragement, reinforcement and training - my dog quickly learnt and we have since had no intense barking when we leave the house or pacing! Reggie now sits on the couch, calm and has full roam of the house! We cant believe it, in just one session we broke through the issue and everyone is much happier now :) highly recommend Mark!

Anthony Haddad739 days agoSpent two hours with Mark this morning and my 8-week Havanese is more receptive to training. Mark was able to provide tips to accelerate toilet training and drive the right social behaviors. We also walked through pen / crate optimisations which were a massive help - Alfie is already using his space correctly. We initially struggled to reduce his anxiety and contain toilet accidents but with some minor adjustments I'm confident Mark's advice will iron those issues out over time. I can already see the things I was doing wrong and feel much more confident handling my pup. Mark is very professional and I couldn't recommend him more.

Hayden Yung745 days agoSnowy learned not to bark at the postman, at the ringing of the doorbell, at someone knocking at the door in less than two hours. Mark was great with our Japanese spitz and went above and beyond to help. I would highly recommend Mark + The Sydney Dog Trainer. He taught us how to understand our dog, Jatz and found the right tools that work for our him, this was so helpful and Jatz has been so well behaved ever since! We are forever grateful Mark!
